About Outreach Extension Cell of Bharati College
Community service gives an invaluable opportunity to walk into a different community, that is less familiar but just as colourful and most importantly in need of attention. By strengthening the chain of lifting others, Community and Outreach Extension Cell, at Bharati College strives to make human life worth living. From women escaping violence and underprivileged kids needing education to starving people in need of food to saving lives, there are no shortage of ways volunteers can help make a difference. The cell was set up in 2014 with the objective of enabling students to voluntarily adopt the principles of serving humanity by extending a helping hand to make the surroundings a better place.
Students across the various disciplines have been volunteering with passion and positivity, and in the process, they have made new friends, strengthened in a bond of commitment to a shared activity. The cell has provided an avenue to students to explore one’s interest easily. By engaging with communities requiring help, volunteering has given an opportunity to practice important skills used in workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization. Engaging in activities, events and interacting with people, the work also exposes the students to professional organizations or internships that could benefit their career. Students have come up with the responses of feeling happy and more confident while they counsel and provide aid in small ways to the target group undergoing anxiety and depression. The college has also benefitted from the active community service of the students as the efforts of students has brought appreciation to the college time and again. The college is frequently approached by organizations requiring the active engagement of students for a cause. Students have also benefitted with the opportunity to intern with NGOs.
