It is an integral part of the of students’ assessment to get minimum passing marks at DU in their courses. This limit is very important so that students must take their academic journey seriously within the university.

This article includes all details about the minimum passing marks at DU. There are many students who aspire to graduate with a high percentage from this prestigious institution. They need not only to understand the course material but also the role of this passing marks criteria.

DU Passing Marks 2023: Grade Points and Marking System

The grading system at Delhi University has recently undergone significant changes in 2023. Under the new education system, there is a shift in the weightage of components of assessment.

How the requirement of minimum passing marks at DU has changed with change in grading system

The weightage of end-semester examinations has reduced. Now, instead of accounting for 45% of the total marks, students need to take internal assessments seriously. Because they hold a higher weightage at 55%. This means that 90 out of 160 marks will be of internal assessment with a 45:55 ratio. 

The National Education Policy has introduced several changes in the distribution of marks. These changes show a more balanced role of continuous internal assessment throughout the year. It allows students to prove their understanding and knowledge of their course instead of relying on final examinations.

These grades are then converted into letter grades. DU measures the performance on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest score students can achieve. After confirming their score, it converts that into a letter grade.

DU Grading System 2023

Students need to understand that they have to get the minimum passing marks at DU to avoid receiving an ‘F’ grade. They will need to retake that specific exam. In other words, if you do not pass a particular paper, you will have to give it another try. This rule emphasises the university’s commitment to maintaining academic standards. It ensures that students demonstrate a certain level of knowledge and proficiency in their chosen subjects.

It is important for students to know the abbreviations used in the DU Grading System for the year 2023. Understanding these abbreviations is crucial for students as they navigate their academic journey within Delhi University. These abbreviations represent key elements of the grading system, such as letter grades, grade points, and more.

Minimum Passing Marks at DU for 2023

Delhi University follows a specific grading system. Here the final evaluation of a course is divided into two parts: internal assessment and semester exams. These components are weighted differently, with a 25:75 ratio, respectively.

This means that the internal assessment contributes to 25% of the final grade and the semester exam paper accounts for the remaining 75%.

How to Achieve minimum passing marks at DU along with ECA

The semester exam’s weightage is solely determined by the performance in the exam paper itself. The internal assessment marks are allocated based on various factors. This includes assignments, projects, class participation, or tests, depending on the course’s requirements.

Students can check the specific ratios and criteria for the internal assessment in their course guidelines or syllabus.
