The DUSU Elections 2024 are coming up, and the ABVP, associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has declared its election committee. Election results are expected on September 28. The scheduled date of the elections is September 27. According to an ABVP press release, the recently formed committee will be in charge of managing every facet of the election process, including the candidate selection process.
The ABVP’s Delhi State President Tapan Bihari has been appointed as the DUSU Elections 2024 committee’s chairperson. Alongside this appointment, the committee has added other notable individuals, including National Secretary Shivangi Kharwal and National Girls’ Coordinator Manu Sharma Kataria. The State Secretary Harsh Attri and DUSU President Tushar Dedha are also important members of the committee.
Tapan Bihari addressed the ongoing preparations by noting that the committee has initiated discussions regarding potential candidates. He also commended the enthusiastic response from students to this year’s “DUSU on Campus” campaign, highlighting the campaign’s positive reception and the engagement it has generated among the student body.
The Delhi State Secretary, Harsh Attri, emphasised the proactive measures taken by ABVP sections to interact with students and gather input for their forthcoming manifesto. These exchanges are essential because they help the organisation comprehend the wants and demands of the student body, which guarantees that pertinent problems are covered in the manifesto.
Attri added that it is expected that an announcement about the candidates for the next elections will be made shortly. A calculated step to guarantee that the manifesto accurately represents the needs and interests of the students is the continuous practice of gathering input.
What is ABVP?
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is a prominent student organisation in India with a right-wing orientation and is independent of other political parties. It is closely linked with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist group.
The ABVP’s core objectives include advocating for significant reforms in the educational system and university administration. It plays an active role in student elections across colleges and universities, striving to influence student governance and policies.
The ABVP has introduced the Students for Development (SFD) program as one of its many initiatives. This program seeks to promote a more expansive and well-rounded understanding of society’s requirements by encouraging students to take a holistic and sustainable approach to their growth.
The ABVP also disseminates its views and updates through the publication of a Hindi monthly magazine called Rashtriya Chhatrashakti. The organisation’s opinions and actions are reflected in this magazine, which is published in New Delhi.
