Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College (ARSD) has received the highest NAAC score for a Delhi University College. The college, located in Dhaulan Kuan, has received a score of 3.77, the highest NAAC score for a Delhi University college.
Previously, this accomplishment was bagged by the Shri Ram College of Commerce, which emerged victorious during the first round of the assessment. But in the second round, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College was able to bag the highest score for a Delhi university college and receive an A++ level of accreditation.

About ARSD college
ARSD or Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College is a co-educational college, affiliated with the University of Delhi. It is located in the Dhaula Kuan area of Delhi. It was founded on August 3rd, 1959, by the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, Delhi, and is named after the late Shri Atma Ram Chadha, a philanthropist. It was previously known as Sanatan Dharma College.
It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines, including arts, commerce, science, and management. The college has a student strength of more than 5,000 and a faculty strength of around 200. Along with academics, the college also offers various co-curricular societies. For eg- FIC (finance and investment cell), DHIRAH (the spiritual society), Nimbus (debating society), Rangayan (the dramatics society), NSS unit, NCC unit, and many more.
It is one of the best colleges in India. It ranked 7th among colleges in India and ranked 4th among all DU colleges as per the NIRF India rankings 2022. ARSD was evaluated by the NAAC peer team in October 2020, and the score was recently made public. It was revealed that the NAAC score of ARSD College is the highest NAAC score for a Delhi University College.

National Assessment and Accreditation Council
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is a body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India to assess and accredit higher education institutions in our country. It is an autonomous organization with its headquarters in Bengaluru. It was established in 1994 following the recommendations of the National Policy in Education. The main objective of the policy was to address the issues of deterioration in the quality of education. The assessment is based on several criteria, including, infrastructure, teaching techniques, research, governance, social inclusivity, etc.
Data shows that as of December 2021, 655 universities and 13316 colleges were accredited under the NAAC.
The results from the 2020 evaluation
During the first round, it was the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) that bagged the highest score, which was 3.65. In the second assessment cycle, however, the NAAC score of ARSD College is a new high score (3.77), which is the highest NAAC score for a Delhi University College ever. The college has been accredited with an A++ grade, which is the highest grade that can be awarded to a higher education institution in India. Its score in the first round was 3.11, which gained an A-level accreditation. The college stated that the commendable score was a result of their hard work in the fields of research, academics, placement, extracurricular activities, and outreach initiatives, among others.
A statement released by the college said “The grade and score achieved by the college are the results of the commendable development of the college in various fields such as academics, placements, research, co-curricular activities, outreach initiatives along with other things.”
In an interview with the Times of India, the principal of the college, Mr. Gyantosh Kumar Jha expressed that the commendable achievement was a collective effort of the stakeholders of the college and the commitment of the students, faculty, and staff. He also thanked the alumni and the governing body for constantly augmenting the teaching-learning ecosystem. He promised that the college would be committed to remaining steadfast in its journey toward excellence.
Other colleges which bagged commendable scores in the second round were Miranda House with a CGPA of 3.61, Hindu College with a CGPA OF 3.6, and Hansraj College with a score of 3.62. All three colleges received an A+ grade from the accreditation system.
