PROJECTS
Our projects aim at empowering people in need. We use business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve the quality of life and standard of living of the diverse communities that we work with. Enactus SRCC has taken up 16 projects till date, of which 12 have been successfully completed and 4 are continuing. The continuing four projects are Project Asbah, Project Virasat, Project Leher and Project Amal.
PROJECT ASBAH – EVERY DROP, A PROMISE
Project Asbah aims to provide clean drinking water to underprivileged communities which are plagued by the lack of accessibility or affordability for potable drinking water. We provide water at Rs. 4 – Rs. 6 for 20 litres by setting up community water filtration plants in urban slums and rural households.
Water is dispensed through water ATM structures with the help of rechargeable digitised Asbah cards. Each Asbah plant also generates livelihood opportunities for 2 women entrepreneurs from members of the community who act as the operators of the plant. Asbah has now been able to set up 18 plants which impact 46,750+ people every single day.
PROJECT VIRASAT – CRAFTING LIVES, REVIVING LEGACY
Project Virasat is an umbrella organisation that aims to revive the age old craft-forms of India. We started our journey by establishing P-TAL in an effort to revive the dying art form of handcrafting copper and brass utensils using hammering techniques, by mobilising artisans and providing them access to organised credit, contemporary designs and better demand avenues. Now, we plan to make Project Virasat a launchpad to provide opportunities to millions of craftsmen across India who are currently struggling to carry on their craft.
PROJECT LEHER – SAVING THE WORLD, ONE BUTT AT A TIME
Project Leher is an end-to-end solution to irresponsibly flicked, toxic cigarette butt waste management. It aims to create a sustained collection chain and recycle cellulose acetate (core of the cigarette butt) into a diverse product after chemical cleansing. Smokers around the globe buy roughly 6.3 trillion cigarette butts that are thrown into the environment every year, (that’s approximately 18 billion every day) making it the world’s most littered waste.
PROJECT AMAL – UTILISING STUBBLE, UPLIFTING FARMERS
Amal aims at minimising the catastrophic impact of Stubble Burning by converting them into Smokeless Biochar Briquettes & fortifying char powder which can be effectively used to replace traditional source of energy such as charcoal, firewood etc. Contrasted with different resources of vitality, briquettes have a higher calorific value and low powder content, thus making an environment friendly substitute to charcoal.
The past projects are:
Project Azmat : Repossessing Respect;
Project Kayakalp : Pulling the Strings of Change; and
Project Sattva : Churning Purity into Progress.
PROJECT AZMAT
- Project Azmat aims at the rehabilitation of manual scavengers by providing them with an alternate sustainable livelihood. It works with a community of 18 women in the village of Nekpur, Ghaziabad. The community has been trained in manufacturing of cleaning products and they now earn their livelihood through its sales.
PROJECT KAYAKALP
- Project Kayakalp is an endeavor to revive the art of puppertry and aims to empower 14 traditional puppeteers from the Kathputli Colony of Shadipur in Delhi. Kayakalp seeks to modernize their art form and use the medium of puppetry to convey social and environmental messages.
PROJECT SATTVA
- Project Sattva is based in Karnal (Haryana) and aims to tackle the inefficiencies in the distribution network of milk and milk related products. Enactus has associated with NDRI Karnal and Arpana Services, an NGO, to achieve its objectives. Project Asbah Enactus Shri Ram College of Commerce is a student-run not for profit organisation that undertakes social entrepreneurship projects in order to move towards a better, more sustainable world.
