Students pursuing DU dual degree program concurrently now have a new chance thanks to the University of Delhi. Under this program, qualified students can enrol in a one-degree program offered by any DU college or department via the standard enrolment process. They can also pursue a second degree simultaneously by using the School of Open Learning’s Open and Distance Learning approach.
This new facility allows students to broaden their academic horizons by engaging in two courses simultaneously. It provides flexibility in learning, with one programme being campus-based while the other is completed through distance education. This initiative aims to offer more diverse educational opportunities to the students.
The University has taken a major policy decision, as stated in the Academic Council’s Resolution No. 14, dated July 12, 2024, and the Executive Council’s Resolution No. 5 (5-39), dated July 27, 2024. This ruling permits students to concurrently register in the DU dual degree program as long as certain requirements are satisfied.
Students will be able to pursue one degree in the conventional form under this new system, which will be provided by the departments or colleges of the university. In addition, they can concurrently register in another degree program offered by the School of Open Learning via the open and remote learning methods. The purpose of this action is to give students more learning opportunities and academic flexibility.
When contemplating the DU Dual Degree Program, candidates should be aware of the following important terms and conditions as provided by the university. To guarantee a seamless transition and fruitful program participation, certain recommendations are essential.
- Students enrolled in or planning to enrol in a degree program who wish to pursue a DU dual degree program simultaneously, in regular mode and Open and Distance learning (ODL) mode, must notify the university through the head of the department or college principal.
- Pursuing two similar academic programs simultaneously, such as B.Com (Hons.) and B.Com (Pass), is not allowed, even if one is through ODL.
- Students allowed to pursue two degrees at the same time must meet all academic requirements (attendance, internal assessments, continuous assessments, assignments, presentations, exams, etc.) for each program separately.
- To avoid repeating identical mandatory courses in two programs, students must complete the compulsory courses of the first program they enrol in (either regular or ODL) and substitute the compulsory courses in the second program with relevant alternatives. Detailed guidelines on course selection can be found in the official notice.
- Credits from two separate degree programs cannot be combined to obtain a major or minor in a discipline.
