History
Nehru Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital (NHMCH) was established in 1924 by Seth Chhotu Ram Charitable Society to provide quality homeopathic education. The NHMCH started its operations with just two faculty members and five students. Over the years, the college has witnessed remarkable progress and growth in terms of medical education and research.
In 1934, the college was affiliated with the University of Punjab. That same year, Dr A. C. Nehru, a well-known homeopathist, took over as Director of Institution Management, giving the institution its current name – Nehru Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital.
In 1979, the college received recognition from the Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH). Later in 1994, NHMCH had been associated with Guru Nanak Dev University for conducting BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) examinations at the Undergraduate level. The same year Govt approved PG Diploma Courses for students for Phytotherapy leading to MD (Hom). In 2003 NMHCH was recognized as MD course centre by the Health Ministry of India. With ever-growing demand from all parts of India, the course intake has been increased by 50%.
With dedicated faculty and modern amenities provided by NHMCH its popularity is increasing day by day. In addition to providing first-rate homeopathic care to patients across India, the college also serves an important role in educating new doctors through various UG and PG courses that it offers. This makes it a major cornerstone in homeopathy today, as well as sets a solid foundation for generations to come!
