About Vanijya Samiti: The Commerce of Bharati College
“Vanijya Samiti”, the Commerce Society at Bharati College, came into existence in 2013. It was inaugurated by Dr. A.K. Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi.
The society aims to make a difference in the domain of learning through practical exposure of the students to the insights of the business world.
It constitutes 16 hardworking members and a few faculty working as mentors. The society has been, since its inception, organizing various events and activities each academic year related to the domain of commerce as an extension of the curriculum to provide a platform to the students to hone their skills at networking as well as understanding the nuances of the business world. It thus, provides students with the opportunities to explore subjects beyond the classroom and comprehend and imbibe critical life skills. This has been helping a lot in developing their communication skills, boosting their confidence and increasing their motivation levels, creating well rounded individuals and making them great team players.
EVENTS
- Freshers’ and Teachers’ Day was celebrated by the society as first initial events of the academic year 2019-20.
- There were many interactive seminars and workshops held in collaboration with various organizations / institutions:
- Seminar by TIME on “How to perform well in GD?”
- Seminar by Mindworkzz on “How to crack placement in written exams?”
- Seminar by Career Launcher on “MBA: A future proof career option”
- Open House Discussion on “Professional Courses & its Scope” by Grain Brain-Innovious Academy
- Seminar by Eminent on “How to do well in Personal Interview?”
- Seminar by ICSI on “Mutual Funds”
- Webinars on the topics: “Covid-19 and the Indian Financial System: impact assessments & policy response”, “Understanding Derivatives: Mechanism, Pricing, and Hedging”, “Enhancing business communication skills during the lockdown” and “The New Financial Advisor –How the industry is evolving in the face of global change”
- An aptitude test based on basic accounting principles by All India Tally Commerce Aptitude Test.
- A “Psychometric Test” by TOI was also held for the students.
- A Workshop by ITC Vivel-for their campaign “ab samjhauta nahin.”
- Each year the society also organizes its fest “Commercio”, which is a two-day event comprising various competitions and fun games for the students. During the academic year 2019-20, the society successfully organized more than 20 events across its two-day fest, including seminars on prevalent topics and fun activities with the collaborative efforts of the members and the faculty at the Commerce Department of the College. It was held in January 2020, on 21st and 22nd comprising mind-boggling events like “Biz Charades”, “Inquisitive”, “B-Plan”, “Slam Poetry”, “PUBG” and “Mock Stock” as a part of the two-day fest.
- There were other activities carried on by the society like Pad Donation Drive, visit to an orphanage and some fun interactive games like “Brand Tambola”, “10 ka Dum” and movie screenings as well. A fun filled trip was also organised to Kasol-Kheerganga-Tosh Valley for the students and the teachers of the college. The society bade farewell to the seniors by organizing an online farewell “VIBGYOR’20”
